# How do I turn off auto-renewal for my subscription?

## Enable or disable auto-renewal through the Billing Portal.

- **After signing up for a teacher account containing a free trial period**  
  When you sign up for a teacher account, the subscription will automatically renew as a selected subscription after the end of the trial period. The credit card information submitted upon registering will be used for the monthly recurring charges.   
  You can turn off auto-renewal from [the Teacher Dashboard](https://support.whiteboard.fi/how-do-i-turn-off-auto-renewal-for-my-subscription#access-billing-portal-from-teacher-dashboard).

- **After license purchase**  
  When you subscribe to a Whiteboard.fi Lite, Pro, or Premium Plan, the subscription will automatically renew monthly or annually, depending on which plan you selected upon the initial license purchase. 
    - **If you are the intended user of the subscription license:**  
      You can turn off auto-renewal from [the Teacher Dashboard](https://support.whiteboard.fi/how-do-i-turn-off-auto-renewal-for-my-subscription#access-billing-portal-from-teacher-dashboard).

- - **If you are not the user of the subscription license linked to a teacher account (administrator, principal, etc.)**  
      You can turn off auto-renewal via the email sent upon license purchase, containing the link to the billing portal.

### How do I access the Billing Portal from the Teacher Dashboard?

Select the **License** tab from the Teacher Dashboard, you need to be logged in with the account which subscription you want to modify.

Then, click **Manage Subscription** to modify the selected license's subscription:

**❗****Deattach License **will not end the active subscription. It will only free the seat from the license, so that other teachers can link it to their account.

### Turning off auto-renewal

You can turn off auto-renewal in your Billing Portal, which is accessible [via the Teacher Dashboard](https://support.whiteboard.fi/how-do-i-turn-off-auto-renewal-for-my-subscription#access-billing-portal-from-teacher-dashboard), or via the email containing the link to the billing portal sent upon the license purchase.

From the Billing Portal, click on **Cancel plan** to turn off auto-renewal.

After clicking **Cancel plan**, you will get a view of where the changes are described:

❗**Remember to click the confirmation button to get changes confirmed!**

If you turn off auto-renewal by clicking on the **Cancel plan**, you will still be able to use your subscription license and its features until the end of the billing period.

### Renewing subscription

At the billing portal, you have the option to renew subscription plan:

Click the **Renew plan **button to get a confirmation view:
